Modern Warfare 2 Announced

Activision has announced the sequel to hit first person shooter Call of Duty Modern Warfare, currently being developed by fan-favorite Infinity Ward.

Modern Warfare 2 which is the sixth installment in the highly popular Call of Duty franchise is slated for release in time for Christmas in the Fall of 2009.

The game which is “looking incredible” according to Activision CFO Thomas Tippl, is going up against the previous iteration  which sold over 10 million copies. “For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it’s only going to launch in the holiday season,” said Tippl.
